Lighting out of necessity
Done out of compliance
This one is done out of compliance. It gets you lights in your home so you don’t have a dark home at night. The goal is to have an illuminated space, but it rarely pays attention to the home as a whole.
While some of these designs are good, most are usually a grid of lights in the ceiling, which can create hot spots and harsh shadows. All too often, these in-ceiling fixtures are high glare, large aperture, and use low-quality LEDs. Low quality LEDs provide light for your space, but can be inconsistent between fixtures or drift in color over time. Additionally, some of these fixtures have trims that protrude and bring attention to your ceiling instead of your space.
Whle we are big fans of lighting, we feel that the goal of lighting is to enhance your space, not to be a focal point.
