What Are Bottom-Up Shades, and When Would You Use Them?
Unlike traditional shades that roll down from the top of the window, bottom-up shades lift up from the window sill to the top of your window. Bottom-up shades have some unique use cases that make them a great choice over more traditional shade options.
Hiding the Shade Mechanism on Higher Windows
When a window sits above eye level, like in rooms with tall ceilings, you often see the top of the window before anything else. With a traditional shade, that means the roller and all the hardware is always in view. Meanwhile, Bottom-up shades move the roller to the bottom sill, keeping it out of sight and maintaining a cleaner look on higher-up windows.
Cover Non-Square Windows
Not all windows are square. Some follow the curve of an arched ceiling, which can make mounting a traditional roller difficult. When the sill is flat but the top of the window is uniquely shaped, bottom-up shades still provide full shade coverage without compromising the design.
